People of America
We are the people of America.
Who Bleed
Who Strive
Who Cry
Who bleed the blood of our ancestors. The fighters
and protectors of the true native lands of wealth and
prosperity, who were ripped away for your
sustenance. Dehumanized and silenced left to bleed
from wounds not talked about. Left to bleed until our
blood runs out. Taking your brutality with every lash
of America because my ideologies kept me strong
and humble. Knowing that my blood spills for love and
life, for generation to come, and all the people who
share the same strife. Your brutality is unwarranted
for you bleed the same way I do. But I have to fight
with my life for a chance to rise above my
circumstance.
Who cry for the privilege to be undeniably
American because my birth rights to freedom and
opportunity was denied at your border. But with
pride aside I come humbly with a need and
yearning for peace of mind. I see your true
intentions. So with bitter tears I cry because the
wisdom of your injustices is a burden our children
will have to carry. For we are slain in the streets
and slain in the name of our country. Left in the
public eye to be viewed as symbols of American
pride. But I stand for something more than an
inherited corruption. For we will shed our sorrows
to make room for happiness. Because I forgive you
for the lives you have taken because I have already
mourned the loss of a nation. And though I fear I
have more hope for the future and pray my plea
doesn’t fall upon deaf ears.
Who strive for life, liberty, and the pursuit of
happiness. For I made a commitment to my
country to fight against injustice to open the
dream of freedom to all. Because my safety is
our safety. But in a world that is unhealthily
disjointed and engulfed in darkness. I just want
to be content and know that though I fear there
is still room for courage to reach the
unattainable. For the best has yet to come for
we have not imagined all the possibilities for
barriers to be bombarded by change. Because
we will rewrite the stories of the new America.
We will be known.
